Blizzard of 2008

December 22nd, 2008

We just experienced over 14 days of straight snowfall. Some days we’d get a dusting while others would bring a foot or more…this all prior to the official blizzard even happening. At last count, which we kept by watching how many cables on our front deck railing disappeared, only three remain, which translates to roughly 4 feet!

Last Saturday we had a small ‘Blizzard Party’ with a handful of friends. We did a little yard kayaking, snow surfing, Cooper throwing and I even towed Abe around on his snowboard behind the truck. A good time was had by all. Well, perhaps all except for Cooper.

We woke early the next morning, early enough to grab first chair at Mt Hood Meadows. We were very excited as Interstate 84 had been shut down, basically cutting off the flow of Portland traffic to the mountain. Dreams of waist deep powder motivated us out of bed, as did the promise of a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich from Erin who lost a recent bet. To our dismay the mountain received about .25″ of freezing rain overnight creating a thin layer of ice on top of the all the beautiful powder! Every turn was instant pain.

What goes better with first row in the lot? How about first chair!

We left the mountain after about 4 runs to the warmth and comfort of a cozy sofa and another Flyers win! We haven’t missed a Flyers game yet this season. Long live Direct TV’s NHL Center Ice Package! GO FLYERS!!!

Do I see that nasty ass leather couch Pete got out of a dumpster about 10 years ago? I also remember it having piss on it for our “Depends” football game. I think Pete’s Depends leaked on it.

…and Cooper still hates you for that ;p

HA! Indeed it is. I’m pretty sure people are still pissing on it. :)

I hope Cooper makes you trip down your stairs… new TV looks great. I need to bring the family out there in the summer and drink all of your beer and break your toilet.

Any of you white wash Gary… just remember to play nice with that dude.

I am so glad you got first chair on ice, dick. My friend at Stowe had waist powder all yesterday and I had waist deep couch cushions.

I find it difficult to believe everything that is written here is all true. Maybe some of you should look to do some more research before you comment on here in future!
