Anyone who knows me is aware that I’m a bird nut. In fact, it’s a life long dream of mine to become a master falconer. Recently a amazing URL was passed my way with the most amazing images. The people responsible for Erotic Falconry are extra, super cool!

Like a egret from the ashes, Faith No More is back! It’s been 11 years since Mike Patton and company called it quits based on label issues, artistic differences and Patton’s unwavering need to explore uncharted territories of sound, and thank god for that! In the meantime, Patton has brought us some gems! Tomahawk, Fantomas, Mr. Bungle “California” and Peeping Tom to name a few. It’s hard to imagine all that great music being made if FNM would of continued.

Andrew Wyeth is by far my favorite artist, creating works that really hit close to home in my memories. It’s impossible to walk on my families land without the feeling of walking through a real-life Wyeth painting. I often wish I could of shared a beer with Mr. Wyeth and Ernst Hemingway, I have a feeling I would of been good friends with those guys.  

On January 16, 2009, Andrew Wyeth died in his sleep at his home in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, after a brief illness. He was 91 years old.

The snow covered wasteland of our home

Last Saturday we had a small ‘Blizzard Party’ with a handful of friends. We did a little yard kayaking, snow surfing, Cooper throwing and I even towed Abe around on his snowboard behind the truck. A good time was had by all. Well, perhaps all except for Cooper.

We woke early the next morning, early enough to grab first chair at Mt Hood Meadows. We were very excited as Interstate 84 had been shut down, basically cutting off the flow of Portland traffic to the mountain. Dreams of waist deep powder motivated us out of bed, as did the promise of a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich from Erin who lost a recent bet. To our dismay the mountain received about .25″ of freezing rain overnight creating a thin layer of ice on top of the all the beautiful powder! Every turn was instant pain.

We left the mountain after about 4 runs to the warmth and comfort of a cozy sofa and another Flyers win! We haven’t missed a Flyers game yet this season. Long live Direct TV’s NHL Center Ice Package! GO FLYERS!!!

My new 2009 800GS with freshly mounted guards from ADV Spec!

Last night I installed crash bars, skid plate and hand guards all from Adventure-Spec. Everything bolted on very easily and the quality is top notch. Accessories for this bike are already back ordered, taking more than a month for delivery for almost anything. This past weekend I took the cycle into the dealer to have the break-in updates done. While there I also had them install a set of TKC-80 tires which are MUCH better in the dirt than the Battlewings that came stock.

A large storm is moving into the Cascade Range this Friday with frigid temperatures and lots of snow, it will be our first real winter storm of the season…it’s about time! The weather tonight was very still and mild, a perfect night to braap around Post Canyon!
